- TierTime 3D Printers
Formally the UP brand 3D printers were sold under the brand name PP3D, bought out by Teir Time in 2014. Tier Time already had gained a good reputation for high quality, high end machines; such as the Kevvox and Inspire series.
The adoption of the UP series saw their range expand into the hobby and educational sector with this cheap, yet reliable and impressive range of 3D Printers.
Strongest Features of the Up 3D Printer Range
- Rugged Reliability: These machines are strong! Making them perfect for the tough school environment. They also just keep working with little to no maintenance.
- Cheap Entry Price: The price of these machines makes a reliable, dependable 3D Printer affordable for school and hobbyists on a budget.
- Variable Supports: This series are the only ones we know of with variable support density built in as a click-to-change option in the software. Very easy to use. Nice feature.
- Easy to use: The UP software and machines are just so easy to use. We nearly never get a support call for them! Really reliable little machines.
Limitations of the UP! 3D Printer Range
- Small Build Volume: This is about to change with the UP Box, however build volume should be considered when purchasing the smaller machines
- PC Reliant: The Up series must be connected to a PC at print start and to load or unload filament (except the new UP Mini 2!)
- ABS perferred: These machines have been designed for ABS, which does produce fumes (UP Box and Mini 2 now have HEPA filters to remove them). They can print in PLA, they are just not as good at it as some other brands.
- Temperature Locked: You can not edit the extrusion temperature, so you can not experiment with other filaments like wood, which require a lower temperature.
- Raft and Supports: These can sometimes be difficult to get off without a sharp tool, like a box cutter.
