Introduction to 3D Printing Information Session:
Media Hype vs. Reality

Everything you need to know before you buy
In this "warts and all" introduction to 3D printing you will explore this evolving technology through real industry and educational perspectives. You will also gain 3D printing literacy to help you decide whether 3D printing is for you through discussion on machine capabilities in real life examples.
The course covers the following topics:
  • What kind of user am I and what machine is best for me?

In this topic you will determine the type of 3D printing user you are and which machines are most suitable for your needs. Machine suitability is analysed through their ease of use, adaptability, total cost of ownership and applications.
  • Cutting through the Hype: what can 3D printers actually do?

Professional architectural, jewelery, designer and engineering models produced from a range of machines will be discussed and examined. You will explore what constitutes an A Grade print and more importantly, examples of what 3D printers cannot print, reasons why, and alternative machine choices. This presentation will also pay attention to the demands of architecture, design, engineering and precision modeling.
  • Suitable For

Anyone thinking of investing in a pro-sumer to professional 3D printer for use within a professional and educational setting.
  • Course Length

    2 Hours
  • Cost
